SHOW PREVIEW > FASTENER FAIR USA

Check it out in Charlotte

For all the industry, in the heart of manufacturing – that’s the theme for this year’s Fastener Fair USA as it heads to the thriving manufacturing centre of Charlotte, North Carolina. Find out what to expect from the third edition of the fastener exhibition…

From a textile and tobacco centre to an advanced manufacturing hub; over the years Charlotte has attracted the likes of Boeing, Siemens, BMW, Bosch Rexroth, Honda and other global businesses to set up shop in and around the city.

In fact, manufacturing firms in the Charlotte area directly employ 143,798 people, with the manufacturing sector having an estimated $40.8 billion impact on the region. Charlotte is also ground zero for North Carolina’s thriving automotive industry. 33 of the top 100 global OEM auto part suppliers, and more than 290 automotive manufacturing establishments, employ 464,000 in an industry that has grown by 25% over the past five years.

Charlotte therefore seems a natural location choice for the third edition of Fastener Fair USA, which will take place between 13-15 July 2020 at the Charlotte Convention Centre. With North Carolina’s reputation as a hotbed of aerospace and automotive manufacturing, the location choice provides a significant concentration of fastener buyers and end users.

CONFERENCE

A one-day, three-track conference will kick off the first day of the show, followed by a two-day exhibition.

The pre-show conference programme will get underway on the 13 July, developed in conjunction with the Fastener Training Institute (FTI) and the Mid-West Fasteners Association (MDFA). Starting with an opening keynote on Industry 4.0 by factory automation expert Georg Frey, President of Lignum Consulting, the conference then splits into three tracks: Fasteners 101, Tom Reilly Training: Value Added Selling, and Fasteners in the Smart Factory.

Later in the afternoon attendees will board buses for a plant tour of a nearby industrial manufacturing centre aligned with the fastener industry.

Bob Chiricosta, Fastener Fair USA Event Manager >
“Supply chain, assembly, measurement and other processes are becoming increasingly integrated. The fastener industry needs an event like Fastener Fair that brings all the sectors together.”

EXHIBITION

On 14 July, the two-day exhibition commences with a general session titled ‘Impact of Industry 4.0 on Fastener Firms’, starting at 9am and presented by Altix Consulting’s Yannick Shilly.

On-the-expo-floor Industry Education Stage presentations will also take place, with more than a dozen presenters covering topics ranging from blind rivet bolts, import and export strategies, smart tools and fasteners, to 3D metal printing.

This year’s show theme ‘For all the industry, in the heart of manufacturing’ reflects Fastener Fair USA’s expanding mission to serve all industry segments that involve fasteners, Chiricosta believes, while bringing them together in one of the States’ fastest growing manufacturing regions.

Each day, the Industry Education Stage will conclude with an open forum-style presentation and Q&A on two of the most currently pressing issues: Tariffs – Where We Stand, presented by legal expert Richard Wortman, and Workforce Strategies, presented by a panel of industry leaders from the Fastener Fair Advisory Board.

The Industrial Fasteners Institute and the Fastener Training Institute will also present an ongoing ‘Ask The Experts’ discussion, where specialists from various parts of the fastener and fixing business will field questions from the audience. The discussion will start at the Industry Education Stage, and then continue at an adjacent ‘Ask The Experts’ booth (1237) for the duration of the show.

Bob Chiricosta >
“Suppliers and distributors are the eyes and ears of what’s happening in the industry for their customers. By adding more industry content into the Fastener Fair mix of outstanding networking and business development, Charlotte will offer everything fastener professionals need to build a business.”

BUILDING ON SUCCESS

Fastener Fair USA 2020 is now in its third edition, and momentum is building rapidly after the success of last year’s event.

Around 2,200 fastener professionals participated in last year’s exhibition in Detroit, which featured more than 270 exhibitors from 15 countries, spanning the aerospace, automotive, civil engineering, construction, energy, machinery and other industries.

For this edition, Fastener Fair USA is inviting exhibitors and attendees alike to a welcome reception at the NASCAR Hall of Fame, an interactive entertainment attraction honouring the history and heritage of NASCAR.
