E-learning and in-person training with Construction Fixings Association

The remit of the UK-based Construction Fixings Association includes training, which directly relates to its mission statement of “Ensuring best fixings practice”. The CFA has been running training courses online and face-to-face, often located at the offices of its fixing system members, such as Rawlplug and fischer. Fastener Training Institute’s week of learning in Chicago

The next Fastener Training Week from the Fastener Training Institute (FTI) will be held in Chicago, IL over 21-25 August.

Held at the Lincolnshire Marriott and is hosted by the Mid-West Fasteners Association (MWFA), FTI’s advanced technical training programme is for fastener distributors, manufacturers and end-users and is part of FTI’s Certified Fastener Specialist™ (CFS) advanced technical training programme. It combines small group classroom education, discussions and hands-on exercises along with plant and testing facility tours and networking opportunities. At weeks-end, students test for CFS designation.

Fastener Training Week in Chicago will cover topics such as manufacturing processes, consensus standards and quality control and will be taught by leading industry experts Laurence Claus, IFI Director of Education and Training and Carmen Vertullo, Fastener Consultant and Trainer, Carver Labs.

Professionals in fastener sales, purchasing, manufacturing or quality assurance are encouraged to attend. Registration includes five days of training, educational materials, continental breakfast and lunch, transportation for plant tours, certification of completion and eligibility for the CFS designation.

STAFDA’s San Antonio Educational Workshops

The STAFDA Convention is a regular host for educational and training sessions, utilising compelling speakers from the industry. This year, the STAFDA Convention will run over 5-7 November in San Antonio.

2023 highlights include sessions on human-centric leadership, with Dirk Beveridge, using qualified data and sharing case studies of distributors which are setting the standard. The art of building relationships is a session being held by Debra Fine, focusing on rapport-building techniques, conversation and mingling skills, gaining visibility, and networking tips. Mary Kelly will also be focusing on leadership but this time on how to create a productive and constructive team, ruminating on how loyalty and relationships affect the bottom line and what causes employees to leave. Thom Singer will also touch on staff retention in his talk on trust, accountability and business relationships, and how to create a culture where the company will thrive. An ‘Emerging Leaders Forum” will compered by Thom Singer, taking on the essential topic of grooming the next generation to take over the business. Finally, STAFDA Economic Consultant Alan Beaulieu will provide a comprehensive, industry-focused synopsis to help businesses through uncertain times.
