The largest aerospace fastener manufacturer in Pennsylvania recently integrated VisionLab, a 3-D measuring system, manufactured by General Inspection LLC, into its manufacturing process to streamline first part inspections. VisionLab measures its full range of threaded fasteners, reducing inspection times, reducing costs and improving quality.

Multiple manual gauges, such as micrometers, calipers and optical comparators, which are inherently subject to human error are replaced by this easy to use, 3-D gauging system. In just a few seconds, all dimensions – including lengths, diameters, radii, angles, and GD&T features – are measured and displayed with a pass or fail indication. This saves time and money plus drastically improves quality by accurately measuring parts within two microns. Part feature tolerances are assigned with the appropriate part number and stored in memory for quick recall.
