Gesipa Birdie cordless riveting tool >
Small and lightweight with a large working range
With the new Birdie®, cordless riveting tool specialist GESIPA has developed what it says is the smallest and lightest cordless riveting tool in its performance class.
At a sensational 900 g (without battery), the new GESIPA Birdie is so light you can work as long as you need without getting tired. Its balanced centre of gravity and comfortable handles are a great help, too. What’s more, the tool covers a large working range: with a setting force of 10 kN and a tool stroke of 25 mm, it makes light work of setting blind rivets with a diameter of up to 5 mm in all materials.
Once everything is set up, you can get started. Insert the rivet and gently tap the trigger button: the 100% ball-bearing-mounted components in the drive unit and the wear-free BLDC motor ensure that everything is “riveted down” in no time – no need to nail anything down here. And, if the light’s a bit dim in the workshop, that’s no problem either, as the integrated light ring precisely illuminates the nosepiece and the riveting point.
The Birdie’s non-slip stand ensures that you can quickly put the tool down without it falling over.
If you need to keep your hands free while working, or if you want to keep the Birdie safe from covetous colleagues, you can simply hang the tool on a balancer using a standard karabiner.
Power recuperation allows the Birdie to work for longer because every bit of energy is used. Just like in a car, braking energy is fed into the battery, becoming available for further riveting. If the battery does empty, the control system signals the need to recharge both visually and acoustically.
When you’ve been working for a long time, you will naturally accumulate a lot of mandrel bodies. These are collected in the spent mandrel container, which is transparent so you can see immediately when it’s time to empty it.
The Birdie is also very easy to care for: you can clean and replace the jaws, and change the nosepiece, in no time at all, without the need for tools. And colour-coded nosepieces mean that matching the blind rivet used is child’s play.
"Long battery life due to efficient control – braking energy is recovered and charges the battery (regenerative braking)."
During the tool’s development, attention was paid to maximum practicability – everything should be as simple as possible while also being the highest quality.
To give users the greatest possible freedom, while conserving resources and saving money, the Birdie uses the tried-and-tested CAS (Cordless Alliance System) battery. With more than 30 manufacturers and more than 300 tools from various trades now, the alliance means that multiple tools can be operated extremely easily with the same battery.
You choose whether the Birdie comes in a practical linkable L-BOXX or in a smart sales box, with variable equipment – with one or two batteries, or no battery at all, and with or without charger. The GESIPA L-BOXX is of course bright blue, as ever, so you always know at a glance where the riveting tool is.

Stanley Engineered Fastening >
Redefining Rivet Fastening Assembly Systems with Advanced Processing Monitoring Tools
With industrial processes becoming increasingly automated and integrated across the globe, factory systems need smarter, more intuitively connected equipment to enable manufacturing and operations teams. This need has created an industry-wide shift to smart tools and connected hardware platforms that facilitate productivity and efficiency.
The BR12PP-8 Smart Rivet Tool from STANLEY Engineered Fastening is one such cordless tool that enables seamless blind rivet fastening assembly operations with the most advanced processing monitoring capabilities.
The BR12PP-8 smart tool is a lightweight, battery-powered blind rivet setting system with a powerful 8kN of pull force that can install breakstem rivets in the range of 1/8” (3.2mm) to 3/16” (4.8mm). It is programmable with full process monitoring and error-proofing capabilities. This tool provides unparalleled flexibility by enabling operators to program up to 16 different rivet jobs, allowing them to use one tool for many rivet applications.
"The BR12PP-8 provides our customers and partners the best in smart, cordless, and programmable rivet setting technology."
“The BR12PP-8 provides our customers and partners the best in smart, cordless, and programmable rivet setting technology,” says Gowtham Vidyasagar, Associate Product Manager at STANLEY Engineered Fastening. “With a lightweight, ergonomic design and industry-leading features, this fastening tool helps teams gain significant operational advantages to boost productivity and quality-cost improvements.
“Our advanced blind rivet setting system, which is powered by long-lasting and readily available DEWALT lithium-ion batteries, is all set to be launched soon in Europe to help industries in the region leverage the best of what STANLEY Engineered Fastening has to offer.”
PROCESS MONITORING ENABLES SMARTER OPERATIONS
The BR12PP-8’s intelligent process monitoring utilises accurate precision force and stroke measurement sensors and settings to ensure the right rivet is being used in applications. This reduces the risk of expensive rework of entire batches as the joint is assembled to specification the first time.
The system’s error-proofing capabilities are enhanced by a selectable pressure switch to ensure the rivet is located correctly in the application before the installation cycle can start. It also mitigates the risk of operator error by reducing the need to set up the tool manually on the production line.
To further elaborate on the BR12PP-8’s usability and efficiency, Vidyasagar notes: “The cordless capabilities improve operator safety and reduce fatigue by helping them move easily around applications without the hazards and constraints of compressed air lines. The reduced rework and elimination of pneumatic lines contribute to a smaller carbon footprint as well to further establish our ongoing carbon-neutrality initiatives.”
In terms of integration with IT networks and other smart devices, the BR12PP-8 system can be connected wirelessly to a QBE controller to further enhance its smart tool credentials. Additionally, when connected to the Alpha Toolbox, the STANLEY proprietary software for tool monitoring and data control, the BR12PP-8 is a versatile tool that can transform fastening operations.
